In general, ‘Porous materials‘ are materials with three-dimensional network of pores (cells) and the Porous material in which the walls between adjacent cells in the network are partially open are called ‘Open cell porous materials’.
These materials can trap particles and elements while allowing the air and liquids to pass through. Sponges, cosmetic puffs, pumice stones, wood and paper that we normally use in our daily lives can also be considered as ‘Open cell’ material.
Open cell porous plastics have attractive properties such as absorption, application, diffusion, filtration, venting and wicking, and are used in a wide range of products for the healthcare, cosmetics, stationery, electronics, industrial and construction industries.
Open cell porous plastic “Yamahachi Porous”
In 1970s, we began research and development of `Yamahachi Porous”, an open cell porous plastic material made from polyethylene as a base material. Since then, we established the manufacturing technology of porous plastic material for pre-inked stamps “Flash foam” and “porous nibs” for art markers. These porous components, which are still supplied today to the global stationery industry. We constantly update to improve the quality and technology of those porous material.
In recent years, we receive development requests for unique products in many different fields. “Yamahachi Porous” is a flexible open cell porous material, mainly made of polyethylene (PE) with the basic performance such as absorption, application, venting and more. We design and manufacture porous plastics using our own multiple technologies and expertise for customers who require to challenge complex shapes or special porous plastic with special function for their products. We continue our challenge for our customers to support their development of the innovative products.
